New Brunswick Lakes Workshop (October 15, 2011)
Eastern Charlotte Waterways (ECW) will be hosting of a province-wide lakes workshop. Our aim is to bring together folks who are interested in learning about lake environments, current issues, and management practices in the province. Most importantly, we want to provide this as an opportunity for networking and for sharing ideas and information on how we as New Brunswickers can collectively ensure that our lakes receive the attention they deserve.

Publication - Water Quality Monitoring: Lake Utopia (Published July 25, 2011)
Eastern Charlotte Waterways (ECW) compiled a booklet to report the results of ongoing fieldwork in Lake Utopia, which began in September of 2010. Of specific interest was the occurrence of blooms of Microcystis aeruginosa, a species of blue-green algae.

Multicultural Environmental Picnic (August 13, 2011)
Eastern Charlotte Waterways, in partnership with the Multicultural Association of Charlotte County (CCMA), will be hosting a barbecue and nature-related events at New River Beach on the 13 of August. This event is aimed at easing the integration of newcomers by introducing to participants the local wildlife and common practices.

CSSP Sampling and Analysis (Started July 11, 2011, ongoing)
Canadian Shellfish Sanitation Program Sampling & Analysis is performed by ECW staff on a regular basis.
Day Camp (August 2, 2011)
On the 2nd of August, some ECW staff will introduce Blacks Harbour Day Camp matriculates to environmental values, and stewardship. A fun-filled afternoon is planned for the “campers”.
Lakes Monitoring (Summer & Fall 2011)
A continuation and expansion on past lake monitoring, ECW will be monitoring Lakes Utopia, Digdeguash, and Chamcook.

BoFEP (Sept. 23, 2011)
ECW to present poster at 9th Bay of Fundy Science Workshop from Sept 27-30. Workshop is hosted by the Bay of Fundy Ecosytem Partnership (BoFEP) and the Atlantic Coastal Action Program Saint John (ACAPSJ).
