| Canadian Environment Week Writing
Contest What: Eastern Charlotte Waterways Inc. (ECW) invites Grade 9-12 students from Charlotte County to submit articles to the Canadian Environment Week Writing Contest. Students are permitted to choose the topic for their article, however it must have an environmental theme. The article should be geared toward a general audience, should not take an advocacy stance, and should not contain profanity, obscenity, ageism, racism or sexism. Articles should be approximately one page in length, typed and single-spaced. The winning article will be featured in ECW’s weekly column Saving the Green, in the St. Croix Courier. Past Saving the Green articles can be found on our website, www.ecwinc.org/stgarchive.htm. Deadline: Submissions will be accepted from April 21-May 23, 2008. Only one submission per person. Send to: Email submissions to Laura Barrett at ecwinc@nbnet.nb.ca. Use the contest name “Canadian Environment Week Writing Contest” as the subject line. Submit your article as an attachment, and in the body of the e-mail include the title of your article, your name, grade, school, home address, phone number and email address. Judging will be blind (blind judging denotes that contact information cannot appear on the article itself, to ensure anonymity and fairness). Prize: The top entry will be published under ECW’s column header Saving the Green in the St. Croix Courier during Canadian Environment Week on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. The article will be added to the Saving the Green archive on our website. The winner will also receive the Planet Earth DVD box set. The winner must be willing to have her/his picture taken. |
